# Tiles View

> See a floor's accessories as a list of tiles grouped by room.

## Intro

Reach anything on a floor by name. The Tiles view lists the same accessories, rooms and controls as the floorplan, displayed as tiles grouped by room, each one saying what it is and what it's set to do.

The two views work together. Add the accessories you use day to day on your floorplan, and reach everything else in Tiles: a room with a lot of accessories in it, a technical room like a boiler room or loft, or anything you'd rather leave off the floorplan. Your floorplan stays tidy, and you can still control all your accessories. See [Keep your Zendo Tidy](/floorplan/accessory-visibility) for what to add where.

## Switch between views

1. Tap <MenuButton />
2. Under **View**, select **Floorplan** or **Tiles**.

Zendo remembers your choice on that device, so a wall-mounted tablet can stay on the floorplan while your phone opens in Tiles.

  **View** and **Mode** sit in the same menu and do different jobs: the view decides how your accessories are shown, the mode decides which ones you see. See [Modes](/floorplan/modes).

## What you'll see

The Tiles view is an easy way to organise a floor: what you use most at the top, everything else under the room it's in, and what you rarely use one tap away.

It shows one floor at a time and you will see:

* **Property-wide actions.** "Shortcuts", "Activity & Cameras", and anything else that belongs to the whole property rather than to a room. Available at the very top for quick access. These are the same controls from the floorplan.
* **Favourites.** The accessories you use most often. They sit at the top of the list so you can reach them quickly.
* **One section per room.** Every other accessory sits under the room it's in. Rooms appear in the same order as everywhere else in the app.
* **"Not in a Room".** Anything that isn't linked to a room yet. Link it to a room from its settings and it moves up into that room's section.

Your speakers stay at the bottom of the Tiles view, easy to reach and control, just like they do on the floorplan.

### Tap and long-press

Tiles behave like accessories on the floorplan. Tap a tile to open the accessory and control it. Long-press for the quick action, such as toggling a light on or off.

## Add an accessory to Favourites

Favourites brings the accessories you use most often to the top of the list, so they're easy to reach. Select **Include in Favourites** in the accessory's settings and it joins a Favourites section at the top of that floor.   An accessory can be included in Favourites and hidden from its room's grid at the same time. That way you don't see the same tile twice.

## Hide an accessory from the list

A room with a lot of accessories makes a long list, and not everything in it is something you use often. Deselect **Show in Tiles view** in the accessory's settings and it moves out of the main grid into the room's panel, one tap from the room's heading. You can still reach it and control it, and the list stays easy to read. See [Where an accessory appears](/floorplan/accessory-visibility#where-an-accessory-appears).

  **Show in Tiles view** changes the list for everyone. To limit an accessory to certain people, use [Family Sharing (Access Control)](/share/acl) instead. It works the same for both Floorplan and Tiles views: if you've hidden an accessory from someone on the floorplan, they won't see its tile either.

## Add an accessory from the Tiles view

You don't have to add all your accessories to the floorplan. Adding it from the Tiles view allows you to control it without adding extra clutter to the floorplan.

1. Switch to the Tiles view.
2. Tap <MenuButton />
3. Tap "Settings"
4. Tap "Add or Change Accessories" (or "Edit Floorplan")
5. Scroll to the room you want, then tap "Add Accessory".
6. Pick the accessory and follow the on-screen instructions.

### Place it on the floorplan later

If you decide to add it to the floorplan later:

1. Tap <MenuButton />
2. Tap "Settings"
3. Tap "Add or Change Accessories" (or "Edit Floorplan")
4. Open the accessory's settings from the Tiles view.
5. Tap "Place on the Floorplan", then drag the marker where the accessory belongs.

If you change your mind, you can deselect **Show on the Floorplan** in the accessory's settings.

## Change the order of tiles

You can change the order of the tiles in a room or in the Favourites section:

1. Tap <MenuButton />
2. Tap "Settings"
3. Tap "Add or Change Accessories" (or "Edit Floorplan")
4. Tap the room's heading to open its panel.
5. Tap "Sort"
6. Drag the tiles into the order you want.
7. Tap "Done".

Favourites keep their own order. Arrange them the same way from the Favourites panel.
