Intro

If you’re setting up a permanent device (a phone or tablet that stays in one place), a good mount or stand makes the difference between a good and a great experience. You get a screen that’s always in reach, always charged, and always ready to control your space with Zendo.

What to mount (and where)

Please pick a location that’s easy to reach but not in the way.
  • Wall-mounted tablet: Great for entrances, kitchens, and hallways.
  • Desk/counter device: Great for reception desks, cafés, studios, and workshops.
Please also check:
  • Power: Plan where the charging cable and power supply will live (ideally hidden).
  • Wi‑Fi: Mount where your network is strong and stable.
  • Glare: Avoid direct sunlight and reflections if you can.
  • Height: Aim for comfortable eye level, so it’s easy to glance at.

Orient the floorplan (heads‑up)

If you’re using a tablet, please rotate it so the floorplan matches how the room looks when you’re standing there. This is a “heads‑up” approach: the top of the screen should represent what’s in front of you, rather than always keeping north at the top. It makes it much faster to connect what you can see (doors, desks, corners) with what you see on the screen. Please use this quick check:
  • Stand where you’ll actually use the tablet.
  • Face into the space you’re about to walk through.
  • Rotate the tablet so “up” on the floorplan is “ahead” in the room.
If people approach the tablet from multiple directions, please pick the most common approach and optimise for that. Consistency beats “technically correct” here. Zendo will automatically change the aspect of the floorplan to match the four possible orientations of the tablet.
These are solid choices for a permanent Zendo device:
  • iPad (regular iPad)
  • iPad Air
  • iPad Pro
  • Samsung Tab A11
If you’re choosing a screen size, please aim for around 11”. It’s a sweet spot: large enough to control comfortably, small enough to mount neatly.
If you want a clean, premium install, please consider Displine wall mounts or stands. They’re built for permanent installs and are designed to keep the tablet securely mounted and powered, which is exactly what you want for a “set it and forget it” Zendo device.

Power options for a permanent install

If you’re doing a tidy, “built‑in” setup, Displine also offer two good options for powering a wall tablet: Please pick the one that best matches your wiring plan and your tablet’s port (USB‑C).

Lock the device down

Once the hardware is sorted, please set the tablet up as a dedicated controller:
