Intro

Widgets are small cards, such as a clock or a calendar, that a tablet or wall panel shows beside the floorplan and the Tiles view. Each device has its own widgets, so you can choose them for where the device is mounted.

Where widgets show

Widgets show on tablets and wall panels in a device group, along one edge of the screen. Wall panels with a small screen don’t show widgets. A device can show up to 8 widgets.

Set up widgets

On your phone or tablet:
  1. Tap
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. Tap “Control Panels”
  4. Under its device group, tap the tablet or wall panel
  5. Tap “Configure Widgets”
  6. Tap “Add Widget”, tap the widget you want, then choose its settings
  7. Tap “Save”.
Zendo goes back to the list of widgets. Then publish your changes, so the device shows them.

Change the order

In “Configure Widgets”:
  1. Tap “Sort”
  2. Drag the widgets into the order you want.
  3. Tap “Done”.
The device shows the widgets in the same order.

Change or delete a widget

To change a widget, tap it in the list, change its settings, then tap “Save”. To delete a widget, tap it in the list, tap “Delete”, then confirm.

Preview the widgets

Tap “Preview” at the top of “Configure Widgets” to see the device’s widgets as the device shows them, in Landscape and Portrait.

Publish your changes

“Configure Widgets” uses the same editing as “Add or Change Accessories” (or “Edit Floorplan”). Your changes are saved as a draft, and the device shows them once you publish them:
  1. Go back to your floorplan or the Tiles view
  2. Tap “Done” in the top-right corner.

Replace a device with widgets

When you replace a device, its widgets move to the new device. See Configuration.

Troubleshooting

  • The device shows no widgets: check that you’ve published your changes, and that the device is in a device group.
  • A widget shows “Please update Zendo to show this widget.”: the device has an older version of Zendo than the phone or tablet the widget was added from. Update Zendo on the device.
  • A widget is called “Unknown Widget” in “Configure Widgets”: it was added from a newer version of Zendo. Update Zendo on your phone or tablet to change its settings. You can still change its label or delete it.
  • “Can’t add more widgets”: a device can show up to 8 widgets. Delete one, then add the new one.
