Intro
The zendō floorplan is designed to be flexible and fit your needs. You can configure it as you like. However, here are some tips that you might want to follow:- Add Pins to control blinds, curtains, task lighting, smart plugs, garage doors or electric gates, robot vacuums; everything else can go in a Room Accessory
- Less is more: keeping only the essential accessories on the floorplan makes it easier to find and control what you need
- Use Home Assistant automations, scenes and groups: grouping accessories helps reducing the number of accessories and simplify control
Room Accessories
- Add a light accessory that controls all the lights in the room
- Add a thermostat for each room that has one
- Add a fan if the room has a ceiling fan or just one fan in the entire room
Pins
- Each blind/curtain should have a Pin on the floorplan, next to the window where they’re installed
- Place a light Pin for task lighting like reading lights, desk light or beside table light
- On/off accessories can be added as a Pin (e.g. hairdryers, coffee makers, electric vehicle chargers, turntables)
- Each smart door lock should have a Pin on the floorplan, next to the door where they’re installed
- Each robot vacuum should have a Pin near its dock location
- Christmas trees or other festive decorations can be added to the floorplan using a Pin
- Garage Doors and Electric gates should have a Pin on the floorplan
For a better control experience, use the same language for both pin labels and room names. For example, if your room names are in English, your pin labels should also be in English.
Pins can be moved around to find the perfect spot on the floorplan. To change the position of a pin, simply hold and drag it while in editing mode.
Add an accessory
- Tap (Settings)
- Tap “Edit Floorplan”
- You can now add accessories
Add a Room Accessory
- Tap the ”+” button on the room you want to change
- Select the type of accessory you want to add
Add a Pin
- Tap the ”+” in the top left corner
- Select “Add Pin”
- A new pin will be added to the floorplan
- Drag the pin to the desired position
- Tap on the pin to select an accessory
Add a Speaker / Media Player
Speakers and Media Players are managed differently from all other accessories. See Speakers & media players.Save your settings
When you’re done, tap the “Done” button in the top right corner. Your changes will be automatically synced across all your devices.Remove an accessory
- Tap (Settings)
- Tap “Edit Floorplan”
- Tap on the Room Accessory or Pin you want to delete
- Tap “Delete” at the bottom of the screen
